Cultural History – Kulttuurihistoria -kirjasarja tarjoaa innovatiivisia, informatiivisia ja ajatuksia herättäviä puheenvuoroja kulttuurista ja sen menneisyydestä. Sarja keskustelee historiantutkimuksen luonteesta, pohtii kulttuurin ja historian käsitteitä ja avaa siten uusia näkökulmia menneisyyden hahmottamiseen ja nykyisyyden ymmärtämiseen.

Kirjasarjan toimituskunta etsii nyt ehdotuksia vuonna 2021 julkaistavaksi kirjaksi. Etsimme hyvää ideaa, jolle on tiedossa toimittaja(t). Lisäksi ehdotuksen tulee sisältää ainakin alustava suunnitelma kirjan sisällöstä. Artikkelien kirjoittajia voi kuitenkin hakea vielä ehdotuksen lähettämisen ja mahdollisen hyväksymisen jälkeen.

Ehdotuksia voi tehdä kaikilta kulttuurihistorian piiriin kuuluvilta alueilta. Julkaisemme sekä empiirisiin tutkimusartikkeleihin perustuvia kirjoja että teorioita ja metodologioita pohtivia teoksia. Kirjan on kuitenkin muodostettava teeman, näkökulman tai metodologisen tarkastelun varassa etenevä yhtenäinen kokonaisuus. Artikkelikokoelma voi olla joko suomen- tai englanninkielinen.

Toimituskunnan hyväksymä käsikirjoitus vertaisarvioidaan noudattamalla hyvää tieteellistä käytäntöä ja Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunnan vertaisarviointitunnuksen vaatimuksia. Kirjasarja kuuluu Julkaisufoorumin tasoluokituksessa tasolle 1.

Ehdotuksen pituus on 1–3 liuskaa. Toivomme sen sisältävän teoksen toimittajan tai toimittajien nimet yhteystietoineen, teoksen työnimen, kirjan sisällön synopsiksen sekä luettelon jo valituista kirjoittajista.

Ehdotukset tulee lähettää helmikuun 2020 loppuun mennessä toimituskunnan puheenjohtajalle Heidi Kurviselle (heidi.kurvinen(at)utu.fi).

Cultural History – Kulttuurihistoria -kirjasarjaa on julkaistu vuodesta 2002. Kirjasarjan alkuperäinen kustantaja on ollut k&h kustannus, ja vuonna 2019 sarjan kustantaminen siirtyi Kulttuurihistorian seuralle. Sarjan teokset tekevät tuoreita tulkintoja niin menneisyyden ihmisistä ja kulttuureista kuin niistä käytännöistä, joihin sitoudumme tulkintoja tavoitellessamme.

Cultural History – Kulttuurihistoria is a book series that offers innovative, informative and thought provoking contributions on cultures and their past. The aim of the series is to discuss the nature of historical research and to think about the concepts of culture and history as well as open up new perspectives to perceiving the past and understanding the present.

The editorial board of the series is now calling for proposals for a book that will be published in 2021.We are looking for ideas for a compilation book that has an editor/editors and at least a preliminary plan for the content of the book. Writers for the articles can be procured after the proposal has been submitted and after its possible acceptance.

The editorial board welcomes proposals from all areas of cultural history. The book should be tied together by a theme, viewpoint or methodology but the articles can be either empirical case studies or theoretical and methodological. The articles can be written either in Finnish or in English.

The accepted manuscript will be peer-reviewed following the guidelines for responsible conduct of research and the requirements of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. The book series is ranked on level 1 in the Publication Forum classification.

The proposal should be 1–3 pages in length and include the name of the editor (with contact details), the working title of the book, the synopsis of the content of the book and the list of already chosen writers if there is one.

Proposals will be sent by the end of February 2020 to the head of the editorial board Heidi Kurvinen ().

The Cultural History – Kulttuurihistoria book series has been published since 2002 by k&h publishing house. Currently, its publisher is the Finnish Society of Cultural History. Since the beginning, the series has offered new interpretations concerning past people and cultures as well as the practices to which we connect ourselves while making interpretations.
