Session: Designing with Cultural Heritage

Designing with Cultural Heritage session in CUMULUS Rovaniemi 2019 invites attendees who are working with, or interested in, design and art with cultural heritage. The session aims to gather together research and design showcases, and examples of projects, in the area.

The topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

·        designing with museums and archives

·        user studies on cultural heritage

·        new approaches combining technology, design, and cultural heritage

·        working with indigenous design & art

·        ethics related issues when designing with cultural heritage

·        designing in border of exposure and protection

We encourage the interplay between researchers, designers and artists to discuss the current activities and design challenges related to designing with cultural heritage materials and sites. The aim is to share information and discuss of common interests, and to strengthen and expand the design community working on the topics.

We invite people to present their work or project in the area of cultural heritage as short, 5-10 minute presentations (with power point slides). To indicate your interest to present, send an email by April 23 to The number of presentation slots is limited.
