Isadora Duncan

Kuuluisa amerikkalainen tanssijatar Isadora Duncan vieraili helmikuussa Helsingissä. Duncan oli pitänyt tanssikoulua Berliinissä vuodesta 1905.

Helsingin Sanomien mukaan tanssijattaren luonnollisuus ja liikkeiden kauneus tempasi yleisön mukaansa. Hänen uskalias paljasjalkaisuutensa hyväksyttiin, vaikka yleensä uusiin ilmiöihin suhtauduttiinkin varautuneesti.1

Havis Amanda

Ville Vallgrenin suihkuveistos "Merenneito" paljastettiin 27. syyskuuta Helsingissä Esplanadin ja Kauppatorin välisellä aukiolla.

Taiteilijan mukaan veistos esitti Helsingin kaupungin henkilöitymää. Moni katsoja pahastui patsaan säädyttömyydestä. Pariisissa valmistunutta veistosta kutsuttiin yleisimmin "Havis Amandaksi".
