Agricolan uutis- ja keskustelufoorumit

Yhdysvaltain kongressin kirjasto on julkaissut Flickr-sivuillaan laajan kokoelman värikuvia 1930-1940 lukujen Yhdysvalloista.

1930s-40s in Color, kokoelman kuvat on suuren laman aikana osana New Deal ohjelmaa perustetun Farm Security Administration valokuvausohjelman tuotosta. FSA:lle työskentelivät aikoinaan sellaiset mm valokuvataiteen suurnimet kuten Walker Evans ja Dorothea Lange. FSA:n ohella kokoelmaan kuuluvat sodan aikana perustetun Office of War Information organisaation värikuvia.

Kongressin kirjaston Flickrissä julkaisemat kuvat tuovat 1930- ja 1940 –lukujen maailman esille aivan eri tavoin kuin ne tavallisemmat mustavalkoiset valokuvat, joiden kautta olemme tottuneet tätä ajanjaksoa yleensä näkemään. Kuvat käsittelevät enimmäkseen maaseutua, maaseudun työntekoa ja huvituksia sekä sotateollisuuteen liittyviä aiheita.

Kongressin kirjasto pyytää yleisöä kommentoimaan ja antamaan kuvista lisätietoja. Alkuperäiset kuvat on digitoitu 35mm:n ja 4X5 kokoisista diafilmeistä, kokoelmassa on tällä hetkellä 1615 kuvaa.
