28th Nordic Medical History Congress

The call for papers for the 28th Nordic Medical History Congress is open!

The Finnish Medico-Historical Society has the honour of welcoming you to the 28th Nordic Medical History Congress in Helsinki 30.5.–2.6.2023.

The Nordic Medical History Congress is held biannually in one of the Nordic countries, and it aims to bring together scholars from the fields of medical history, history of health, demography and the history of diseases. These fields are understood widely, and we wish to promote multidisciplinary, cooperation, and mutual respect between scholars from different backgrounds. The official language of the congress is English.

The theme of this year’s event is ”Connections, Exchanges, Collegiality”. We will host keynote lectures from professor emeritus Laurence Brockliss (Magdalen College, University of Oxford), professor May-Brith Ohman Nielsen (University of Agder), professor Hilde Bras (University of Groningen) and researcher Maria Josephson (Karolinska Institutet).

We are welcoming abstracts related to the overall theme of the congress as well as our five subthemes:

1. Scientific networks
2. Collaboration and co-operation
3. Technological advancement
4. Public health and preventive medicine
5. Professional communities

Abstract submission will be open until the 31st of January 2023.
