Environmental Opera Research Conference

The registration for Environmental Opera Research Conference is open, and it will continue until 13 March 2022. In this international event we ask what eco-sensitive opera research might look like, and how it could respond to the environmental crisis theoretically.

The conference will be arranged on 18 March 2022 at 2 – 9 pm in Black Box lecture hall (Musiikkitalo, Helsinki) and online in Zoom. The event is free for charge and open for all interested.

The keynote speaker is Joy H. Calico (Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, Nashville, USA). The programme and the registration form will be available on Environmental Opera Research Conference website.

The event is organized by the University of the Arts Helsinki`s MuTri Doctoral School of Music Education, Jazz and Folk music and the Opera Programme, in collaboration with the research project Politics of Equality in Finnish Opera (2017–2022), funded by the Academy of Finland.
