This workshop will be held at DHNB on at Århus University (9-13.3.2026). This year the X Digital humanities in the Nordic and Baltic countries conference is themed ”Lost in abundance”. On this occasion this workshop seeks to identify ways to improve the findability, interoperability and use of data scattered across borders, domains and media; or rare data, separated from the materials needed to interpret them.
Researchers combine heterogeneous data, from various sources. This practice is essential to develop a comprehensive view that is relevant in terms of their research questions and topics. In turn, researchers often enhance CH data by refining, classifying, and adding context, but there are few mechanisms for returning this back in circulation. The workshop creates a space where research stories intertwine with the narratives of cultural heritage organisations (CHOs) that hold cultural heritage data. Participants are invited to present research making visible the infrastructures (or the lack thereof) to access and reassemble scattered data; for example with insights from search services, collaboration, (meta)data practices, workflows, data asset management, joint repositories, or methodological innovations, but this list is not exhaustive. We aim to generate an encounter between cultural heritage organisations and researchers at DHNB from these cases towards providing a mutual vision for building effective data life cycles in DH.

Organisers will consider contributions regardless if you already have a paper admitted to the main conference or not. The focus of this workshop is on making visible infrastructures and is facilitated by researchers and organisations affiliated to DARIAH, the pan-European Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities.
Funding for traveling must be acquired by participants’ own means, and accepted participants will be notified, the latest, one month before the conference.
