Baltic Connections 2025: a Conference in Social Science History

Baltic Connections 2025 brings together scholars of comparative, economic, social, and global history with a focus on East-West interactions and the broader connections of the Baltic Sea region. Topics include trade, migration, political economy, and institutional change.

This year’s conference is also a preliminary event for the World Economic History Congress 2025 in Lund. We welcome interdisciplinary proposals, digital history approaches, and roundtable discussions. Panel proposals linked to the World Congress are especially encouraged.

The sixth Riitta Hjerppe Lecture in Social Science History will be given by Gregory Clark (University of Southern Denmark). Additional plenary sessions will be delivered by Astrid Kander (Lund University), and Mirva Peltoniemi (Tampere University).
